MOUNTAIN BIKING: Cutler Flat

← UT CARRINGTON BAY 15 MILES NW OF CARRINGTON ISLAND CARRINGTON BAY 15 MILES NW OF CARRINGTON ISLAND Single Tracks →

Description

There's a number of trails in this area, none marked and not that easy to follow. Go with a local or get ready for some exploration. The main Cutler Flat route starts up the road (ugly, loose climb to start, but not long) and then reverts to singletrack which parallels the creek. You can make a clockwise loop after a good climb or link up with other trails in the area. The "Mule" trails would be a CCW loop from the same location but they're better ridden CW also, so it's better to continue up the dirt road you drove up and look for the trail connection on the left not to far after where you parked. The upper reaches of these trails take a long time to dry out, especially in a big snow year and, given the very light use, some parts can completely grow over before with new vegitation before they become rideable. There are plenty of side routes and social trails, some of which will lead you into dead ends. Map available at utahmountainbiking.com.

Directions

From town, go East up Ogden Canyon (Hwy 39 aka 1200 South or 12th St). Turn left across the dam at Pineview Reservoir. At the stop sign in Eden, turn left. At the stop sign in Liberty, turn left and then a quick right on 3300. Follow this road, looking for a sighn on the left indicating North Fork Park. Take that left. Go to a T and take another left. Follow the road untila sharp left with a metal gate on the right at the apex of the turn. This is a good place from which to explore the area.
